David Cushing
David Henry Cushing FRS (born March 14, 1920 in Alnwick , Northumberland , † March 14, 2008 in Lowestoft , Suffolk ) was a British fisheries biologist.
Cushing developed the thesis of the Ecological Mismatch (match / mismatch hypothesis) and described it on the basis of changes in fish stocks in connection with global warming . In contrast to other fishery biologists such as Daniel Pauly and Carl J. Walters , Cushing supported the thesis, which was still recognized at the time, that fish stocks could be used until they collapsed .
