Jans ( Breton. : Hentieg ) is a commune with 1,370 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire .

The inhabitants of the municipality call themselves Janséens and Janséennes.

The village, located in a hilly and wooded area and on the banks of the Don , goes back to a parish founded by the dukes of Brittany . In the 14th century it was under the rule of those of Laval, in the 16th century of Montmorency , Connétable of France .

Neighboring municipalities of Jans are Lusanger in the northeast, Treffieux in the east, Nozay in the south, Marsac-sur-Don in the southwest and Derval in the northwest.
