Bovel ( Breton : bovel ; Gallo : Bovéu ) is a French municipality with 605 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany . Bovel belongs to the Arrondissement of Redon and is part of the canton of Guichen (until 2015: canton of Maure-de-Bretagne ). The inhabitants are called Bovellois .

Bovel is about 27 kilometers southwest of Rennes . Bovel is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Maxent in the north and northwest, Baulon in the north and northeast, La Chapelle-Bouëxic in the east and southeast, Maure-de-Bretagne in the south and Campel in the west and southwest.
