Mernel (in Gallo Merenèu , in Breton Merenell ) is a municipality with 1,034 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in Brittany in France . It belongs to the Ille-et-Vilaine department , the Redon arrondissement and the Guichen canton ( canton Maure-de-Bretagne until 2015 ).

It is bordered by Maure-de-Bretagne to the south, west and north, La Chapelle-Bouëxic to the north - east and Guignen to the south-east . The residents call themselves Mernellois . The settlement area is approximately 70 meters above sea level. The municipality is crossed by the Combs River.
