Manfred Groove is a German-speaking hip-hop band from Berlin and Waldkirch .

history

Manfred Groove was founded in early 2013 by the two members YellowCookies (producer) and Milf Anderson (rap). The two musicians met in the YellowCookies recording studio and decided to return to their musical roots, hip-hop. The first EP, Das Mannifest , was released in the middle of 2013 and provided the band with airplay and interviews on numerous radios ( Fritz , Dasding , MDR Sputnik ).

In early 2014, Manfred Groove signed a record deal with the independent label Rummelplatzmusik for the upcoming album Von Nothing . Von Nothing is a 46-minute, 1000-line rap monologue without a chorus. On May 12th, 2014 Manfred Groove was the first German band to release a 1000-bars song on Soundcloud. The CD release followed on June 13, 2014 and was widely discussed and favorably received not only by hip-hop media, but also by the music press in general. After numerous concerts all over Germany, the second album Ton Scheine Die was released on October 30, 2015.

style

Manfred Groove operate musically primarily the stylistic device of the sample - and loop-based old-school hip-hop, but can selectively also significantly different stylistic devices such as synthetic bass, live instruments incorporated or electronic elements in their music.

The texts are characterized by constant refraction and a high degree of self-reflexivity and often deal with abstract topics that are rarely dealt with in the hip-hop context. The juxtaposition of intellectual and philosophical allusions and sometimes crude expressions and jokes, paired with a tendency to digress and aphorism , form the typical language of rapper Schmilf Wankerson.
