Town hall (Mairie) of Chevaigné

Chevaigné ( Breton : Kavaneg ; Gallo : Chaevaènyaé ) is a French municipality with 2265 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Rennes and is part of the canton of Betton (until 2015: canton of Saint-Aubin-d'Aubigné ). The inhabitants are called Chevaignéens .

geography

Chevaigné is located about twelve kilometers north-northeast of Rennes on the Ille . The Canal d'Ille-et-Rance takes over the course of the river here. Chevaigné is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Germain-sur-Ille in the north and northwest, Saint-Aubin-d'Aubigné in the north and northeast, Mouazé in the east, Betton in the south and Melesse in the west.

The former route nationale 776 (today's D175) runs through the municipality . The place has a train station on the Rennes – Saint-Malo railway line .
