The Ille is a river in France that runs in the Ille-et-Vilaine department in the Brittany region . It rises under the name Ruisseau de la Guzardière in the hamlet of the same name Guzardière on the municipal boundary of Dingé and Saint-Léger-des-Prés , generally drains south and reaches the Canal d'Ille-et-Rance at Montreuil-sur-Ille . It serves as a canalised river up to its confluence as a right tributary into the Vilaine , in the middle of the city of Rennes . Its length is around 49 kilometers. The Ille is navigable in the area of ​​the Canal d'Ille-et-Rance. Today the canal is only used for tourism by sport boats and houseboats .
