Le Rheu ( Breton : Reuz ) is a French municipality with 8740 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Rennes and the canton of Le Rheu . The inhabitants are called Rheusois (es) .
geography
The northern municipal boundary is the Flume river and the eastern municipal boundary is the Vilaine . The Lindon flows into the Vilaine through the middle of the municipality . Le Rheu is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Pacé , Vezin-le-Coquet in the northeast, Rennes in the east, Saint-Jacques-de-la-Lande in the southeast, Chavagne in the south, Mordelles in the southeast and L'Hermitage in the northeast.
The National Route 24 runs through the municipality .
The municipality consists of the districts Le Rheu, Moigné and a part of Apigné (the remaining part belongs to the urban area of Rennes).
history
In 1965, the formerly independent municipality of Moigné was incorporated into the municipality. Both parts of the community can be traced back to the 13th century (1240 Moigné, 1279 Le Rheu). The settlements may also be older, as a Roman road ran along here.
