The Bürgerholz bei Burg is a nature reserve in Burg in the Jerichower Land district in Saxony-Anhalt .
The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0156 is around 920 hectares in size. It is part of the FFH area of the same name . The area has been under protection since 1997 (date of regulation: June 3, 1997). The responsible lower nature conservation authority is the district of Jerichower Land.
The nature reserve is located northeast of Burg and southwest of Güsen . It places part of the city's forest under protection. This is dominated in the protected area by moist floodplain and alder forests . The herb layer is u. a. of Carex Acutiformis , Thelypteris palustris , Galium palustre , Peucedanum palustre and sump Calla formed. Reed and Großseggenriede settle along the trenches and in depressions . Here is u. a. to find the water spring .
The eastern part of the nature reserve is drier. Red beech forests with English oak , silver birch and Scots pine grow here . The herb layer is here u. a. formed by shadow flowers , hairy grove and lily of the valley .
Other forest communities in the nature reserve are a hardwood alluvial forest in the northeast of the reserve with English oak , white elm and common ash and hornbeam in drier locations . Birch and birch-oak forests partially adjoin the alder forests. Several orchids grow in the area of the nature reserve , such as large two -leafed in the area of the alluvial forest and broad-leaved stendelwort in the peripheral areas of the swamp forests.
The forest areas are u. a. Habitat of crane , black stork , red and black kite , goshawk , honey buzzard , middle woodpecker , common snipe , woodcock and kingfisher . Reptiles and amphibians are z. For example, by grass snake , forest lizard , cross and green toad , moor frog and newt represented. The old and dead wood stocks in the nature reserve also offer the hermit a suitable habitat.
In the southeast, extensive pine forests are included in the nature reserve. In the south-west and north-east it is bordered by other forests. Otherwise it mostly borders on grassland areas . In places, extensively used meadows , including the remains of an angelica and cabbage thistle meadow , are included in the nature reserve. In the north, the nature reserve borders the Elbe-Havel Canal . The Berlin – Magdeburg railway line crosses the protected area in the northwest and in some parts represents its border.
