The Dornburger Mosaik is a nature reserve in the city of Gommern in the district of Jerichower Land and the city of Zerbst / Anhalt in the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld in Saxony-Anhalt .

The nature reserve with the registration number NSG 0056 is around 46  hectares in size. It is largely part of the FFH area "Elbaue between the mouth of the Saale and Magdeburg" and surrounded by the landscape protection areas "Middle Elbe" and "Middle Elbe-Steckby". The area has been under protection since 2003 (date of regulation: December 15, 2003). The responsible lower nature conservation authorities are the districts of Jerichower Land and Anhalt-Bitterfeld.

The nature reserve, which consists of three sub-areas, is located southeast of Magdeburg and east of Schönebeck (Elbe) in the Middle Elbe Biosphere Reserve .

Scharleber Lake

The sub-area “Scharleber See” is located east of Pretzien and northwest of Dornburg . It protects the area of ​​the Scharleber See with its bank areas, the stream flowing through the lake, a stream adjoining it to the south and a small part of the forest on the lower terrace north of the lake.

In the lake, which is surrounded by reed beds, floating leaf communities with yellow pond rose and small pond lens communities grow . On the lower terrace falter a Ulmus laevis - field maple -Hangwald and pine, poplar and black locust forste. Parts of the nature reserve are occupied by grassland .

The Scharleber See is the habitat of the Elbe beaver .

Sand mountains near Dornburg

The "Sandberge bei Dornburg" are between Dornburg and Gödnitz . They include the Lübser Heuberg, an inland dune around ten meters high in the sand mountains, which drops steeply to the Elbe valley.

The inland dune is shaped by a light pine forest. Small open areas are occupied by silver grass - pioneer corridors with sand sedge and sand fescue lawn as well as occurrences of the sand silver gap . Rapunzel bellflower , panicle grass lily and ear-spoon gluteal also settle on the dry sites of the dune . Land equestrian grass can be found at the edge of the dune .

The dry sand locations are the habitat of an adapted insect fauna . Here come u. a. Blue-winged sand bug and various voices .

Lower groove

The sub-area "Untere Nuthe" lies west of Gödnitz . It includes the Nuthe between the Elbe bridge at Barby and the confluence with the Elbe with its bank areas. The meandering river, which has cut up to five meters deep into the floodplain , is accompanied by a hardwood alluvial forest with pedunculate oak and field maple, which is followed by meadow meadows at the mouth. Nordic bedstraw , common meadow silt and common cone grow on the meadow meadows . The mud banks formed on the sliding slopes of the Nuthe are occupied by two- toothed corridors and reed grass beds. In the river are isolated comb pondweed companies to find.

Elbe beaver , various birds such as shelduck , kingfisher , puffy tit and whinchat and, especially in the wooded stretch of water, the fish wolffish , bleak , aland , burbot and chub are native to the nature reserve .
