The Nuthe is a right tributary of the Elbe in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in the east of Saxony-Anhalt .
description
The upper course of the Nuthe consists of three source streams (also called "Nuthearme"), which arise in southwest Fläming (between Wiesenburg / Mark and Zerbst / Anhalt ) from
- the northern Nuthe - its source is between Nedlitz and Reuden (Hagendorfer Nuthe, in the lower reaches of Lindauer Nuthe),
- the middle Nuthe , which arises at Grimme (Grimmer Nuthe) and
- the southern Nuthe whose source lies between Jeber-Bergfrieden and Stackelitz (Boner Nuthe).
According to the waterway code, the Lindauer Nuthe is to be regarded as the origin of the Nuthe and the other two as tributaries.
The northern Nuthe source river flows to the small town of Lindau in a south-westerly direction, turns at the spur of Lindau Castle to the south and joins the Middle Nuthe near Zernitz . After a further five kilometers in a southerly direction, the southern Nuthe joins it in the town of Zerbst / Anhalt . Combined, the Nuthe flows in a westerly direction to the confluence with the Elbe ( Gödnitz district ) opposite the town of Barby .
The river has a length of 39 km - including the northern or southern source river (34 km length with medium source river). The valley of the northern Nuthe is partly followed by the railway line from Bad Belzig via Güterglück to Calbe (Saale) , the valley of the southern Nuthe by federal road 187a from Zerbst via Hundeluft to Coswig (Anhalt) .
From the source to the mouth, the river covers an altitude of 50 meters (from approx. 100 to 50 m above sea level ).
The river is namesake for the municipality of Nutha and the former administrative community Elbe-Ehle-Nuthe in the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld.
Since 2009 young salmon have been released in the Nuthe near Zerbst every year.
Tributaries
The list includes all direct tributaries of the Nuthe. All bodies of water that are named in the official topographic maps of the State of Saxony-Anhalt 1: 10,000 (TK 10) were recorded.
