Zernitz is a district of the city of Zerbst / Anhalt in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).
Until December 31, 2009, Zernitz was an independent municipality with the associated districts of Kuhberge and Strinum. 252 inhabitants lived on a community area of 13.71 km² (December 31, 2008). On January 1, 2010 the incorporation into Zerbst / Anhalt took place .
geography
The Anhalt village of Zernitz between the cities of Zerbst and Lindau is located at the confluence of the northern and central Nuthe , which arise in southwestern Fläming . The terrain around Zernitz is mostly flat and gradually slopes down to the south towards Zerbst.
In terms of natural space , the place belongs to the Zerbster Land , an arable, open cultural landscape and 536 km² main unit of the superordinate main unit group of the Fläming in the north German lowlands . The Zerbster Land forms the southwestern roof of the Fläming to the Elbe and belongs to the catchment area of this river.
Road connections lead from Zernitz to Lindau and Zerbst. In Zerbst, seven kilometers away, there are rail connections to Magdeburg and Dessau-Roßlau .

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent communities Kuhberge and Strinum were incorporated.

coat of arms
The coat of arms was approved by the Dessau Regional Council on August 11, 1997 and registered in the Magdeburg State Archives under the coat of arms roll number 58/1997.
Blazon : “Split by silver and red; in front a black mill wheel at the gap, behind a gold-armored silver eagle at the gap. "
Half the mill wheel symbolizes both the old and the new mill in Zernitz. The half eagle is to remind of the former affiliation of the village to the County of Lindau .
The coat of arms was designed by the Heraldic Society “Black Lion” in Leipzig.
