Deetz is a district of the town of Zerbst / Anhalt in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).
geography
The village of Deetz is located on the northern Nuthe , ten kilometers northeast of Zerbst, on the edge of southwest Fläming . Deetz is part of the Fläming Nature Park , which was declared in 2005 .
Deetzer Teich , on the eastern edge of the town, is a 57 hectare lake that was artificially dammed as early as 1583. In 1840 the sovereign Duke Leopold IV confirmed the long lease of the fish pond and the watermill behind the dam, which was later attached to a sawmill. The Deetz pond still supplies carp today (“fish haul” in autumn, when the water from the pond is drained). The pond is also used for local recreation, there is a swimming area and a boat rental.
history
In 1314 the place appears as Detitz for the first time in a document. In 1618 there were 14 full and 3 half farmers and 14 kossats in Deetz . The village of Deetz came to Anhalt-Köthen in 1798 through the division of the Zerbster Land and belonged to the Lindau office, after the ducal family died in 1847 to Anhalt-Bernburg , in 1863 to Anhalt-Dessau .
Until December 31, 2009 Deetz was an independent municipality. On January 1, 2010 the incorporation into Zerbst / Anhalt took place .

coat of arms
Blazon : "In blue three silver carp turned outwards in a three-pass, in between each a golden pair of ears."
The Deetz coat of arms is an undivided semicircular shield in which the carp and ears of corn are arranged in a so - called three - pass position. The shield is blue and stands with the silver carp for fish farming in the Nuthe rivers . Agriculture (arable farming) is symbolized by the golden ears of wheat. Their arrangement in relation to the carp in the shield differs from the usual forms in the region's coats of arms. This is essential, because the ear symbolism often adorns German coats of arms. The heraldic implementation and inclusion of the coat of arms in the approval process that was not completed was carried out in 2004 by the Magdeburg municipal heraldist Jörg Mantzsch .
As the coat of arms of a non-independent district , the coat of arms of Deetz was registered and documented in the German local coat of arms (DOWR) of the HEROLD on September 16, 2014 after an application by the local mayor under registration number 33 ST . All local people are entitled to use the coat of arms, in particular associations and organizations whose activities are non-profit or connected with the maintenance and preservation of the local tradition, provided they are not involved in commercial, religious or political activities. The colors of the place are white and blue.
Culture and sights
In the local cemetery is the grave of a Yugoslav who was abducted to Germany during the Second World War and who was known by name and who became a victim of forced labor in 1943 .

From Deetz road connections lead via Dobritz to Dessau-Roßlau , to Zerbst / Anhalt , to Lindau and to Nedlitz (on the B 246 ). The Deetz stop was on the Berlin – Blankenheim line , known as the “ Kanonenbahn ” ; In the 1990s, the line was expanded and electrified for speeds of up to 160 km / h, at times even ICE trains ran here (without stopping), but the line was closed in December 2004.
