Moritz is a district of the city of Zerbst / Anhalt in the district of Anhalt-Bitterfeld in Saxony-Anhalt (Germany).
Until December 31, 2009 Moritz was an independent municipality with the associated districts of Schora and Töppel as well as the Moritzer Mühle residential area. 318 inhabitants lived on a community area of 16.18 km² (December 31, 2008). On January 1, 2010 the incorporation into Zerbst / Anhalt took place .
geography
The village of Moritz, northwest of Zerbst, lies between the southwestern edge of the Fläming and the valley of the middle Elbe . The slightly hilly area in the Nuthe catchment area gradually slopes down to the south.
In terms of natural space , the place belongs to the Zerbster Land , an arable, open cultural landscape and 536 km² main unit of the superordinate main unit group of the Fläming in the north German lowlands . The Zerbster Land forms the southwestern roof of the Fläming to the Elbe and belongs to the catchment area of this river.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent communities Schora and Töppel were incorporated.

The coat of arms was approved by the Dessau regional council on December 5, 1995 and registered in the Magdeburg State Archives under the coat of arms roll number 118/1995.
Blazon : “Divided by silver and green; above two stylized red roses with golden seed capsules and pointed green sepals on intersecting green stems, below a silver plow. "
The division of silver over green symbolizes the past and present. Above the two crossed and rooted roses, the seal image of the Lords of Morditz, who had their ancestral home in Moritz (actually Morditz) in the 13th and 14th centuries and gave the community its name. The family died out at the end of the 14th century. Below is a plow, which symbolizes agriculture as the main line of business for the residents of Moritz and which has been in use in the community's seal for many years.
The municipality colors are silver (white) - green.
The coat of arms was designed by the Magdeburg heraldist Erika Fiedler .

Transport links
Bundesstrasse 184 ( Magdeburg - Dessau ) leads directly east of Moritz . In the nearby Schora a road connection branches off via Güterglück to the Elbe ferry ( Gierseilfähre ) to Barby .
The Güterglück station is in the neighboring one as Turmbahnhof built station on the railway Magdeburg-Dessau .
