The Cösitzer Teich is a lake in Saxony-Anhalt ( Germany ).

The pond is located in Saxony-Anhalt in the Anhalt-Bitterfeld district between the Zörbiger districts of Cösitz and Löbersdorf and Radegast , a district of the city of Southern Anhalt . It covers an area of approximately 38.76 hectares.

history

The Cösitzer Teich is a shallow lake that was created around 1936 when a brown coal mining area subsided. On October 19, 1967 , it was declared a nature reserve. The Cösitzer pond was a popular fishing water in the region until the sport of fishing was banned at the beginning of 2002 for reasons of nature conservation. This caused a stir among fishing enthusiasts, especially since the water has been used for over 50 years and has been maintained by the local angling club. The jetty built in the area of the pond was not dismantled after the withdrawal of the fishing club and still bears witness to its decades of use.

Biotope types

Find here are remnants of alluvial forests , willows , reedbed , cattail reeds , sedge Riede , wet meadows with Silau Foxtail - and Cabbage Thistle society .

The Cösitzer Teich is an ideal breeding ground for an important black-headed gull colony. It is also home to 124 species of birds and rare amphibians. Were observed in addition to the black-headed gulls, among other Weißflügelseeschwalben , terns , red-necked grebe , black-necked grebe , gulls , herring gulls , orioles , bag chickadees , bearded tits , Knäk- , Spoon , Tableware , tufted ducks , shelduck and gray geese . The pond is a habitat and breeding area for a species-rich world of swamp and water birds and an important resting place.
