description

Vegetative characteristics

The swamp hair strand is a biennial herbaceous plant , reaches heights of up to 1.6 meters and often grows loosely bushy. The stem has no tuft of fibers at the base (this is only the case with this species) and at least the upper part is glabrous and grooved. The leaves are triple pinnate , the end sections linear , 1 to 3 mm wide and provided with a clearly protruding vein network on the underside. They have a short, whitish tip.

Generative characteristics

The flowering period extends from July to August. The flowers are white. The fruit is oval and 4 to 5.5 mm long. The marginal rib is about half as wide as the fruit casing.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 22.

ecology

The swamp hair strand is a hemicryptophyte .

The swamp hairline is the caterpillar food plant of the swallowtail subspecies P. machaon britannicus, which is only limited to a few swampy areas near Cambridge and Norfolk in England .

Occurrence

Peucedanum palustre is a Nordic-temperate-continental floral element . It occurs in Europe from southern France, northern Italy and former Yugoslavia to the Baltic Sea region. In Norway only in the southern part. For Peucedanum palustre there are localities for France , the United Kingdom , the Netherlands , Belgium , Denmark , Norway, Sweden , Finland , Lithuania , Estonia , Latvia , Belarus , the Ukraine , Poland , the Czech Republic , Germany , Slovakia , Switzerland , Austria , Hungary , Italy , Slovenia , Croatia , Serbia , Bulgaria , Romania , European Russia and Siberia .

In Germany, the swamp hairline is only widespread and often found in northern Germany. In addition, it can be found more often in southern Germany (especially the Alpine foothills).

Peucedanum palustre grows in light to slightly shaded, moist (to wet), mostly low-lime, but base-rich, weakly acidic areas. The species occurs in sedge in quaking in loosened reeds reeds before or even in sparse, seggenreichen alder stands. Marsh hair strand is in Central Europe, a federation characteristic species of Magnocaricion, but also comes in plant communities of order Alnetalia ago.

Taxonomy

The first publication took place in 1753 under the name ( Basionym ) Selinum palustre by Carl von Linné . The new combination to Peucedanum palustre (L.) Moench was published in 1794 by Conrad Moench in Methodus , page 82. Other synonyms for Peucedanum palustre (L.) Moench are: Calestania palustris (L.) Koso-Pol. , Thyselium palustre (L.)
