Miniac-sous-Bécherel belongs to the canton of Montauban-de-Bretagne (until 2015: Canton Bécherel ) in the Arrondissement of Rennes and has 774 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). The residents are called Miniacois .

Miniac-sous-Bécherel is about 26 kilometers northwest of Rennes . The river Néal has its source here . Miniac-sous-Bécherel is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Longaulnay and Bécherel in the north and northwest, La Baussaine in the northeast, Cardroc in the east, La Chapelle-Chaussée in the east and southeast, Romillé in the southeast, Irodouër in the south and Saint-Pern in the west.
