Paimpont ( Breton Pempont ) is a French municipality with 1711 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany .

geography

The municipality of Paimpont is mainly covered by forest. The forest area also contains some larger lakes, such as For example Lake Paimpont and Lake Pas-du-Houx, both of which are known for their abundance of fish. The inhabitants of the municipality are mainly divided between a few larger clearings in the forest, where they practice agriculture, and the town of Paimpont in the center, which has seen limited tourist development in recent years. Located in the very west of the Ille-et-Vilaine department, it borders the neighboring departments of Côtes-d'Armor and Morbihan . In the local municipality of Guer , the forest of Paimpont continues in principle to the south. The small river Aff forms the border.
