Breteil ( Breton : Brezhiel ) is a French municipality with 3584 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine in the region of Brittany ; it belongs to the Arrondissement of Rennes and the canton of Montfort-sur-Meu . The inhabitants are called Breteillais (es) .
geography
Breteil is about ten kilometers west-northwest of Rennes . The river Meu limits the municipality in the southwest. Breteil is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Pleumeleuc in the north, Saint-Gilles in the east and northeast, La Chapelle-Thouarault in the southeast, Talensac in the south, Montfort-sur-Meu in the west and southwest and Bédée in the northwest.
