from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Karl-Heinz Sindowski (* 1910 ; † 1991 ) was a German geologist . He was with the Lower Saxony State Office for Soil Research and dealt with the Quaternary geology of the North Sea coast and North Sea and with sedimentology .

At the end of the 1930s he worked at the Geological-Petrographic Institute of the University of Cologne .

He wrote a geological guide for the North Sea coast and mapped Cuxhaven , Altenwalde , Wangerooge , Spiekeroog , Brunsbüttel (with Jürgen Deichmüller ) and Otterndorf, among others . For his investigations of the coastal sediments he introduced sedimentological classifications and investigation methods. Sindowski was a professor.

He received the Dodo Wildvang Medal from the Natural Research Society in Emden .
