The canton of Montauban-de-Bretagne (Breton canton Menezalban ) is a French constituency in the arrondissement of Rennes , in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine and in the region of Brittany ; its main town is Montauban-de-Bretagne .
history
The canton was established on February 15, 1790. From 1801 to 2015, eight municipalities belonged to the canton of Montauban-de-Bretagne (until 1995 canton of Montauban). With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes rose to 24. The communes of the old canton of Montauban-de-Bretagne included all 9 communes of the canton of Saint-Méen-le-Grand and 7 of the 10 communes from the previous canton Bécherel added.
On January 1, 2016, the municipalities of La Chapelle-du-Lou and Le Lou-du-Lac merged to form the municipality of La Chapelle-du-Lou-du-Lac. This reduced the number of municipalities from 24 to 23.
With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipalities of Montauban-de-Bretagne and Saint-M'Hervon became part of the Commune nouvelle Montauban-de-Bretagne . This reduced the number of parishes to 22.

In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the four voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, the pairing Marie Daugan (UMP / LR) / Pierre Guitton (DVD) won against Madeleine Guée / Armel Jalu (Union de la Gauche) with a share of the vote of 58.46% (turnout: 51.88 %).
