The Canton of Fougères-Sud was a 2015 French constituency in the district Fougères-Vitré , in the Ille-et-Vilaine and the region Bretagne ; its main town was Fougères .

history

The canton was established on February 15, 1790. From 1801 to 2015, eight municipalities belonged entirely and part of the city of Fougères to the canton of Fougères-Sud. From 1801 the canton was named Fougères 1 before it was renamed Canton Fougères-Sud. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the canton was dissolved in 2015 and the communes moved to other cantons.

The canton was located in the northeast of the Ille-et-Vilaine department near the border with Normandy.
