The canton Bruz (Breton canton Bruz ) is a French canton in the arrondissement Rennes , in the département Ille-et-Vilaine and in the region of Brittany ; its main town is Bruz .
history
The first canton of Bruz existed from 1790 to 1801. From 1801 to 1982 the communes of the canton of Bruz belonged to different cantons in the Rennes area (Rennes-3, Rennes-Sud-Est, Rennes-VIII). The canton was created again in 1982 by splitting up the previous canton of Rennes-VIII (later canton Rennes-Sud-Ouest ) and was initially called canton Rennes-VIII-1. From 1982 to 2015 seven municipalities belonged to the canton of Bruz. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes fell to just five in 2015. Three of the previous seven communes switched to the canton of Janzé in 2015 . The municipality of Laillé in the canton of Guichen was added to the remaining 4 municipalities in the old canton of Bruz .

The old canton of Bruz consisted of seven municipalities on an area of 116.63 km². These were: Bourgbarré , Bruz (main town), Chartres-de-Bretagne , Noyal-Châtillon-sur-Seiche , Orgères , Pont-Péan and Saint-Erblon .

In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the five voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, the team Philippe Bonnin (PS) / Sandrine Rol (DVG) won against Delphine Boyer-Heulot (Divers droite; DVD) / Auguste Louapre ( UMP ) with a share of the vote of 54.64% (turnout: 49.20%).
