The canton Liffré (Breton canton Liverieg ) is a French canton in the Arrondissement Rennes , in the Département Ille-et-Vilaine and in the region of Brittany ; its main town is Liffré .
history
The canton was established on February 15, 1790. From 1801 to 2015 eight municipalities belonged to the canton of Liffré. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of municipalities rose to Liffré in 2015. The municipality of Livré-sur-Changeon moved to the canton of Fougères-1 . The municipality of Acigné from the canton of Cesson-Sévigné and the municipality of Brécé from the previous canton of Châteaugiron were added to the remaining 7 municipalities in the old canton of Liffré .

The old canton Liffré consisted of eight municipalities on an area of 202.26 km². These were: La Bouëxière , Chasné-sur-Illet , Dourdain , Ercé-près-Liffré , Liffré (main town), Livré-sur-Changeon , Saint-Sulpice-la-Forêt and Thorigné-Fouillard .

politics
In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the six voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, Isabelle Courtigné / Bernard Marquet (both PS) won against Nathalie Davault / Hervé Picard (both Union de la Droite) with 58.86% of the vote (turnout: 50.56%).
