The canton Rennes-Sud-Est was a French canton in the Arrondissement Rennes , in the Département Ille-et-Vilaine and in the region of Brittany until 2015 ; its main town was Rennes .

history

The canton was created in 1801 by splitting up the Rennes canton, which had existed since 1793. Until 1973 it was one of the four cantons in the Rennes area and at times also bore the name Rennes-3. With the further splitting of the cantons in the Rennes area in 1973 and 1985, it was steadily reduced. From 1982 to 1985 his name was Rennes-VII-1. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the canton was dissolved in 2015.
