The canton Melesse (Breton canton Meled ) is a French canton in the arrondissements of Rennes and Saint-Malo , in the department of Ille-et-Vilaine and in the region of Brittany ; its main town is Melesse .
history
The canton was created in 2015 with the reorganization of the cantons in France. The communes used to belong to the cantons of Hédé-Bazouges (7 communes), Saint-Aubin-d'Aubigné (4 communes), Rennes-Nord-Ouest (2 communes), Montfort-sur-Meu (1 commune) and Mordelles (1 Local community).

In the first ballot on March 22, 2015, none of the four voting pairs achieved an absolute majority. In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, Ludovic Coulombel / Gaëlle Mestries (both PS) won against Jean-Michel Arbona / Antoinette Depresle (both DVD ) with a share of the vote of 56.51% (turnout: 50.81%).
