The canton Fougères-Nord (Breton canton Felger-Norzh ) is a former French canton in the arrondissement Fougères-Vitré , in the département Ille-et-Vilaine and in the region of Brittany , which existed until 2015 ; its main town was Fougères .

history

The canton was established on February 15, 1790. From 1801 to 2015 nine municipalities belonged entirely and part of the city of Fougères to the canton of Fougères-Nord. From 1801 the canton was named Fougères 2 before it was renamed Canton Fougères-Nord. With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the canton was dissolved in 2015 and the communes moved to other cantons.

The canton was in the northeast of the Ille-et-Vilaine department on the border with Normandy.
