The canton Betton (Breton canton Bezhon ) is a French canton in the Arrondissement Rennes , in the Département Ille-et-Vilaine and in the region of Brittany ; its main town is Betton .

history

The canton was established on February 15, 1790. From 1793 to 1801 and from 1991 to 2015 four communities belonged to the canton of Betton. Between 1801 and 1991, the communes of the old canton were part of different cantons of Rennes (Rennes-1, Rennes-Nord-Est, Rennes-IV). With the reorganization of the cantons in France, the number of communes rose to 6 in 2015. The commune of Cesson-Sévigné of the previous canton of Cesson-Sévigné and the commune of Chevaigné of the previous canton of Saint-Aubin-d'Aubigné were added to the previous communes of the old canton of Betton added.

In the runoff election on March 29, 2015, Claudine David / Michel Gautier (both PS) won against Corinne Clémenceau / Maxime Gallier (both Union de la droite; UD) with a share of the vote of 51.46% (turnout: 53.32%) ).
