Johann Andreas Mauersberger the Elder

Johann Andreas Mauersberger the Elder (born August 28, 1649 in Treschen , Principality of Breslau , † October 20, 1693 in Panthenau near Brieg ) was a German Protestant theologian , epigrammatist , poet and author of edification .

Life

After school in Oels, Mauersberger attended grammar school in Breslau . From October 10, 1667 he studied at the University of Wittenberg , where he acquired the degree of a master's degree on July 24, 1669 . Mauersberger lived as a private tutor in Brieg for several years . In 1677 he became pastor in Panthenau. In 1676 Mauersberger mourned the death of Georg Wilhelm , the last Piast duke, “with a feather soaked in tears” . On the same occasion, Mauersberger wrote a speech in Brieg in 1676: “Outside the grave of Deß ... Georg Wilhelm”. His praise poem Breßlau ... The head of Silesia , published in Brieg in 1679 and counting over 2000 Alexandrians, is worth reading .
