Spinetoli (in the local dialect: Spinétoli; Spenìtulë ) is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 7336 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Ascoli Piceno in the Marche .

geography

The municipality is located about 16 kilometers east-northeast of Ascoli Piceno and borders directly on the province of Teramo . It is 10 kilometers to the east to the Adriatic . The community is bordered to the south by the Tronto .

history

Spinetoli

The area was populated as early as the 3rd century BC. Today's town goes back to the fortifications that were built around 1000.

The Raccordo autostradale 11 runs through the municipality on the southern edge of Ascoli Piceno towards the Adriatic to the A14 autostrada . There is a train station with the neighboring municipality of Colli del Tronto on the railway line from Ascoli Piceno to San Benedetto del Tronto .
