Ripatransone (in the local dialect: le Ripe ) is an Italian commune ( comune ) with 4142 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Ascoli Piceno in Marche . The municipality is located about 22 kilometers northeast of Ascoli Piceno and about 8.5 kilometers west of the Adriatic coast on the Tesino .
history
As a free-market community, Ripatransone has been known in the books since 1205. Pope Pius V established a diocese here in 1571 and granted the place city rights. In 1983 the diocese was merged with that of San Benedetto del Tronto. Today it is the diocese of San Benedetto del Tronto-Ripatransone-Montalto .
Community partnerships
Ripatransone has had an intra-Italian partnership with the municipality of Sapri in the province of Salerno since 1996 and a partnership with the Greek island city of Zakynthos on the Ionian Islands since 1996 .
