action

season 1

After the tragic loss of her mother, the medical student Christine Berger takes a job as a carer for the young Countess Leonore von Hohenstein, who has a heart condition. Leonore's husband Gregor and Christine feel drawn to each other from the first moment, but both are aware of the impossibility of their love and so they try to suppress their feelings. Despite her emotional confusion, Christine feels at home on Hohenstein, especially since Viola, Leonore's daughter, grows very fond of her and Leonore, too, soon gains new courage to face life through Christine's refreshingly positive manner. During a vacation in Italy, where Leonore is supposed to recover after attempting suicide , Christine meets the charming Philip di Veneria. After another rejection by Gregor, she finally gives in to Philip's bidding and even agrees to the engagement after a while. The continuing affection between Christine and Gregor does not go unnoticed and so Elsa, Gregor's cousin and in love with him since childhood, begins to dig into Christine's past in order to discredit her supposed adversary. The reason for this is given by Christine's brooch, which she inherited from her mother and which was a present from her father, whom she never met and who was killed in a car accident. Leonore is not spared from Elsa's intrigues either. The black sheep of the family is Gregor's brother Arno, who is always in the shadow of his older brother and tries with windy deals to gain recognition from his mother, Countess Sophie von Hohenstein. Since he always has money problems, he ends up blackmailing Countess Leonore and threatening to tell Gregor that he is Viola's biological father. Meanwhile, Leonore expelled Elsa from the castle, as she no longer tolerated their constant intrigues and their behavior towards Christine. Elsa then suffocates Leonore in her sleep. After Leonore's death, Elsa now sees herself at the goal of her dreams. Gregor now learns from Arno that Arno is Viola's father and wants to assert his rights to Leonore's inheritance. Countess Sophie then orders Arno to leave the castle immediately. Christine, meanwhile, feels torn. She loves Gregor, but she feels obliged to Philip. Gregor confesses his love to her again, but leaves the decision to her. On the day of the engagement to Philip, the situation finally escalated completely. Elsa storms the engagement party and claims that Christine's father is the criminal who stole the family jewelry years ago in the Palazzo der Venerias. As proof, she shows Christine's brooch. But the brooch is proof that Philips' brother Ludovico was Christine's father. The unstable Elsa then suffers a nervous breakdown. Finally Gregor asks Christine for her hand and she agrees.

season 2

Christine and Gregor are happy and excited for their wedding, which is to take place in Italy with Christine's grandparents Federica and Piero di Veneria. Arno meets the extremely attractive journalist Carla Roth and falls head over heels in love with her. But Carla has other plans. She wants revenge on Gregor, whom she blames for the death of her husband, and uses Arno to get closer to von Hohensteins. Meanwhile, Christine and Gregor celebrate their engagement in Italy. On the morning of the wedding, Arno intercepts Gregor and the two get into another argument. Gregor, upset by the renewed hostility of his brother, drives off completely angry and is hit by a truck. Viola dies in this accident and Gregor is paralyzed. After hearing the news of Viola's death, he closes himself more and more and finally even pushes Christine away when she visits him in the clinic. At the same time it turns out that Arno evaded taxes a few years ago when he represented Gregor as managing director at Hohenstein. This information was anonymously leaked to the tax office and so Sophie has to leave her castle and ask for asylum with her brother Eduard von Ahrensberg. This is particularly difficult for her because she has not had any contact with him for decades. Eduard finally gives in and lets Sophie live with him. Christine decides to move to Italy, because Gregor has rejected her again. However, she gives her brooch to Sophie as a token of her love for Gregor. It was only by chance that Gregor found out that Hohenstein was about to be sold and that his stud was taken over by his hated uncle. Now he too has to live under one roof with him. On Ahrensberg, he now meets Carla, who creeps into his heart step by step. Christine met the pianist Claudio Magnelli in Italy, who was enchanted by Christine. After she was once again with Gregor in Germany and saw no future together, she decided to give Claudio a chance. Soon afterwards she learns that she is pregnant from Gregor. Meanwhile Gregor lets himself into Carla, who gradually falls in love with Gregor and wants to end her campaign of revenge. With her help, he will soon be able to walk a few steps again. Arno discovers the affair between his brother and Carla and is furious with jealousy. For his plans for revenge, he does not shy away from taking Elsa out of the psychiatric ward and using her for his murder plans. He tells her that Gregor loves her and is waiting for her. Meanwhile he slips her a pistol and lets her catch Gregor and Carla red-handed. But Elsa shoots Arno and finally herself. Carla confesses to Gregor that she leaked the copies to the tax investigation and her motivation. Gregor then leaves her apartment and hands the originals over to the tax office. Hohenstein Castle will soon be auctioned. Meanwhile Christine gives birth to a boy in Italy whom she calls Lukas Ludovico and Claudio is by her side. Gregor decides to leave everything behind and when he discovers Christine's brooch, he goes to Italy, because he has finally realized that he cannot live without Christine. Only there he learns that he has become a father and asks Christine to forgive him. The two then get married and it turns out that Christine bought Hohenstein Castle.
