Wolfgang Weiser
Wolfgang Weiser (born September 29, 1928 in Baden near Vienna ; † March 22, 1996 in Feldafing ) was an Austrian actor who is remembered for numerous serious character roles in ambitious television plays of the 1960s and 1970s.
Live and act
Weiser began his theater career in 1952 at the Exl stage in Innsbruck . After only one season, he moved to the Landestheater Linz the following year . In 1956 there were engagements at the stages of the city of Lübeck , the following year at the Stadttheater Basel and finally in 1960 at the Kammerspiele in Munich .
When we arrived in the Bavarian capital, Weiser began working in front of the camera. Since then he has participated in an abundance of television productions, including a considerable number of literary and stage play adaptations (including Egmont, Professor Bernhardi, Michael Kramer, The Death of Socrates, Dream Novel, Before Sunset ). But he achieved importance above all with supporting roles in several well-known documentary plays with a contemporary historical background: The case of Jeanne d'Arc, Maximilian of Mexico, The Police Minister, General Oster - Traitor or Patriot ?, Gneisenau - The political rebellion of a soldier, The Munich Council Republic , Cardinal Theodor Innitzer and conspiracy in Ulm - The Reichswehr Trial 1930.
He is also remembered for the role of Harold McIntosh, one of the mail robbers in the three-part crime film The Gentlemen Ask For Cashier . He has also worked in other crime novels such as A Coffin for Mr. Holloway and the Jerry Cotton product The Brooklyn Killer Club , one of Weiser's few excursions to the cinema, he has also worked. In the last ten years of his life he was only seen as a guest in TV series. He was buried in the New South Cemetery in Munich .
