Werner Hausmann (born June 14, 1901 in Basel , † July 17, 1991 ibid) is a Swiss theater and radio play director , actor , reporter and television presenter

Live and act

After graduating from high school in Basel, Hausmann attended the Ecole de Commerce in Neuchâtel and then worked as a businessman in the iron industry. In 1920 he began studying drama in Berlin and got his first engagement at the Bautzen City Theater in the 1921/22 season. He then played at various theaters such as the Albert Theater Dresden, the Volksbühne Zurich, the Schwarzburgisches Landestheater Rudolstadt, the New Theater am Zoo Berlin and the Wallner Theater Berlin.

From 1929 he also worked as a film actor. After the National Socialists' electoral success in the Reichstag elections in 1930 , Hausmann returned to Switzerland. There he worked as a speaker, sports reporter and author of industrial reports for the state broadcaster Beromünster . From 1932 he also acted as a presenter of various children's programs, such as children's hour or from house to house , as well as for the quiz show Dopplet or nüt . Between 1930 and 1956 he directed Egmont and Donadieu at the Stadttheater Basel and Heroes at the Stadttheater Bern .

Hausmann also worked as a radio play director and from 1961 was head of the radio play department in the Basel studio of the Swiss radio DRS , but he also directed radio play productions for the SWR in Baden-Baden .

Hausmann is the uncle of the radio play author and director Hans Hausmann .
