After his first own experiences as an actor, which remained insignificant, Gora moved to Rome, where he was able to quickly play small roles in films by Guido Brignone and Gennaro Righelli from 1937 .
Especially after the Second World War, he became a fixture in numerous, artistically notable, films; In 1949 he also made his theatrical debut in Oscar Wilde's The Portrait of Dorian Gray and made his debut as a film director. Up until his death he played in around 130 films and directed nine, some of which were self-scripted, which, however, did not achieve any notable success.
On the stage, Gora's most notable stations were a staging of the portrait of Dorian Gray directly after the war and seasons with Elena Zareschi in 1954/1955 and three years later. In 1956 he belonged to the ensemble of the "Teatro Regionale Emiliano" and in 1959 to the "Teatro d'Arte Italiano". In addition to radio work, he also found a large sphere of activity on television, where he recorded demanding television films such as comedies and theater adaptations and intensified his appearances there in the 1980s.
Gora had been married to the actress Marina Berti since 1944 and had three children. Andrea , Carlo and Cristina Giordana also became actors. Gora, who lived on a vineyard near Rome, also used the pseudonym Emil Jordan , an Anglicized form of his real name. At the age of 84 he succumbed to a heart condition.
