action

When Vincent was a young boy, his brother was falsely charged with a crime and hanged in public. Responsible for this are three people in power from Big Springs, one of whom now lives on the murdered man's large farm. As an adult, Vincent returns to seek revenge. A mysterious stranger who knows the conditions in the city well supports him. When the first two died by Vincent's knife, the last perpetrator panicked and hired the professional killer Sweetly, who was supposed to kill the two avengers. Sweetly can capture Vincent and is challenged to a duel and shot by Il Nero, whom he recognizes as an old enemy. The freed Vincent kills the last culprit and leaves the city together with Il Nero, whose residents are delighted at the end of the criminal rule.

criticism

While the lexicon of international films sums up “routinely staged, rough spaghetti westerns”, Ulrich P. Bruckner finds in his standard work on the genre that it is “a rather bizarre and lengthy work” Measure and characterization, with wrong and conventional equipment, forced showmanship and confused cut. "

Remarks

The film premiered on May 23, 1969 in Germany and then opened five days later in Italy. The original length is given as 110 minutes, the German theatrical version was 95 minutes. The film was released on video in the 1980s and later indexed by the BPjS . The index was removed in December 2011.

Il Nero - hatred was his prayer is generally considered to be an unusual spaghetti western, the course of which, possibly also through cuts, is not always comprehensible. Music, camera work and many scenes of violence, some of which are senseless, give the film a bizarre appearance.
