Pippo Franco
Pippo Franco (actually Francesco Pippo , born September 2, 1940 in Rome ) is an Italian musician, actor and author .
Life
Franco played for many years on cabaret stages, for television and in theaters. On television he achieved great success in the programs Pier Francesco Pingitores ; he succeeded on stage with viola, violino e viola d'amore by Pietro Garinei and Sandro Giovannini . His film career began in 1960 in the musical romance Appuntamento ad Ischia , when he accompanied the young singer Mina with his group I pinguini . Franco continued this start of his film career in the 1960s and 1970s in numerous roles, mostly of a comedic nature. His short but concise appearance in Avanti, avanti! viewed. In 1981 he directed the cinema in La gatte da pelare based on his own script and with his own music. It remained his only film as a director.
He had already made records since 1968; around ten LPs were released by the mid-1980s. After working on movies (since 1983) and on television - in addition to acting roles he was also seen in lottery shows and cooking programs - Franco devoted himself to writing several books in the new millennium.
In 2006 he ran for the Democrazia Cristiana per le Autonomie unsuccessfully for the Italian Senate.
In 2008 he performed a new song at the Sanremo Festival .
