The 32nd edition of the Festival della Canzone Italiana di Sanremo took place in 1982 from January 28th to 30th at the Teatro Ariston in Sanremo and was moderated by Claudio Cecchetto together with Patrizia Rossetti .

procedure

The Ariston Theater, venue of the Sanremo Festival

Encouraged by the great success of the festival in 1981, the organizer Gianni Ravera kept the rules of the previous year in 1982 and increased the number of participants to 30. The participants were divided into two groups, 22 contributions reached the final, and the singing was in half playback . Claudio Cecchetto took over the moderation for the third time in a row, this time with TV newcomer Patrizia Rossetti at his side. The issue's theme song, Che fico! , came from Pippo Franco .

The contributions of ex- Pooh member Riccardo Fogli , who was now a huge favorite after a hit parade the year before, and of the “little king” and four-time Sanremo winner Claudio Villa , who won the Festival returned. Other big names among the participants were Anna Oxa , Al Bano & Romina Power , Drupi , Bobby Solo and Jimmy Fontana . Mia Martini caused a sensation among the debutants . For the first time there were also Viola Valentino (at the time Riccardo Fogli's wife), Giuseppe Cionfoli , Lene Lovich , Fiordaliso and Zucchero (from the Festival of Castrocaro ), Vasco Rossi and the band Le Orme . As in the previous year, the guests were also top-class: Diego Abatantuono presented a medley of current hit parades, Claudia Mori appeared with her hit Non succederà più , and Van Halen , Village People and Hall & Oates were represented as international guests .

When Claudio Villa was eliminated after the first evening with his song Facciamo l'amore , he immediately accused Ravera of having manipulated the votes according to his own taste and turned to the district judge in Sanremo to have the jury's votes published - in Villa’s opinion there were actually no juries at all. Since the entire festival ran the risk of having to be canceled, Villa and Ravera finally negotiated the compromise that a song that had been eliminated could return to the race. The lot was chosen by Una rosa blu from Michele Zarrillo , but he decided not to return. Despite everything, the events had cast a negative light on the festival.

In the final there were no more big surprises: Foglis Storie di tutti i giorni won ahead of Al Bano & Romina Powers Felicità and Drupis Soli , in line with the predictions . For the first time, a critical award was given to Mia Martini with E non finisce mica il cielo (in 1996, after the singer's death, the award was named after her).
