The 58th edition of the festival Italian Song Sanremo found in 2008 from February 25 to March 1 in the Ariston Theater in Sanremo and was hosted by Pippo Baudo and Piero Chiambretti with Bianca Guaccero and Andrea Osvárt moderated.
procedure
After the success of the previous year, Pippo Baudo took over the moderation and (for the seventh time) the artistic direction of the festival for the 13th time. He left everything as it was: 20 entries in the main category, all of which made it to the finals, and 14 entries in the newcomer category, eight of which made it to the small final. Also Dopofestival , Duet evening and jury remained. In addition to Baudo, Piero Chiambretti moderated , together with Bianca Guaccero and Andrea Osvárt .
Anna Tatangelo entered the race as the favorite with the song Il mio amico . The duo of Giò Di Tonno and Lola Ponce , who had previously appeared together as musical actors and presented the song Colpo di fulmine written by Gianna Nannini , aroused particular interest . Loredana Bertè took part with Musica e parole , but was disqualified during the event because the song turned out to be not new in the sense of the competition rules. Among the guests were Carlo Verdone , Lenny Kravitz , Duran Duran , Riccardo Cocciante , Sandra Mondaini , Raimondo Vianello , Elio e le Storie Tese , Claudia Gerini , Giorgia , Jovanotti , Ben Harper , Fiorella Mannoia , Gianni Morandi , Pooh and Leona Lewis .
In the small final on Friday, the duo Sonohra and L'amore won , the critic's award went to Frank Head with Para parà ra rara . In the final on Saturday, Giò Di Tonno and Lola Ponce prevailed against Anna Tatangelo, while the 2007 newcomer winner Fabrizio Moro with Eppure mi hai cambiato la vita came in third . Tricarico was able to secure the critical award in the main category with Vita tranquilla . The audience ratings of the festival were disappointing compared to the previous year.
