Paolo Meneguzzi (born December 6, 1976 in Mendrisio ; actually Pablo Meneguzzo ) is a Swiss pop singer. The singer, largely unknown in German-speaking countries, is mainly known in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland ( Ticino ), in Italy and in some Latin American countries.

biography

In 1996, when he was in Italy was still unknown, Paolo Meneguzzi won with the song Aria, Ario on International Song Festival of Viña del Mar in Chile . Driven by the success of this song, he released his debut album Por amor on March 27, 1997 . Meneguzzi began to build his career and released another album with Paolo .

Paolo Meneguzzi made his debut appearance in Italy at the 2001 Sanremo Festival , where he achieved seventh place with his song Ed io non ci sto più . In 2002 he released his first successful Italian single, In nome dell'amore . The single Versofalso , released a year later, and the album Lei è che were sold over 50,000 times, for which Meneguzzi received the gold record . In 2003 he was presented with a double platinum record for the 200,000 copies he sold.

In 2004 Paolo Meneguzzi again took part in the Sanremo Festival with the song Guardami negli occhi and reached 4th place. In the same year he started his first Tour Lei è tour through Italy and Switzerland (Ticino). In 2005 he took part again in the Sanremo Festival, but did not become a finalist.

In summer 2005 he started his second tour Favola tour through Italy and Switzerland. In 2007 Paolo Meneguzzi took part in the Sanremo Festival for the fourth time and achieved sixth place with the song Musica . In the same year his fourth and best-selling Italian album Musica was released .

On November 26, 2007, Paolo Meneguzzi announced his participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 . He performed with the song Era stupendo . In the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest on May 22, 2008 in Belgrade, Meneguzzi did not succeed in qualifying for the final two days later.

On March 14, 2008 his new album Corro Via was released, with which he went on the "Corro Via Tour" .
