Francine Jordi
Francine Jordi , bourgeois Francine Lehmann (born June 24, 1977 in Worb-Richigen , Canton of Bern ), is a Swiss singer and composer of hits and popular music .
life and career
Francine Lehmann made her first stage appearance at the age of ten. She mostly sang at tourist events in the Spycher in Interlaken . With her sister Nicole she sang in the formation Gospel Four . She studied singing and piano at the Conservatory in Neuchâtel . She chose the stage name Jordi because Jordi is a typical Bernese gender and she confesses to her roots. In addition, the name Jordi can be pronounced well in many languages, "a name for all occasions that goes anywhere and always".
In 1998 Francine Jordi took part in the Grand Prix of Folk Music with the title Das Feuer der Sehnsucht für Schweiz ( The Fire of Longing for Switzerland) and took first place. At the Eurovision Song Contest 2002 she represented her home country with the title Dans le jardin de mon âme, composed and written by herself , but only came third from last. The song was also recorded in German by her: In the garden of my soul .
On her CD, released in 2004, Jordi sings a duet with Nino de Angelo (And when I fall asleep in the evening) as well as the title Träne in Swiss German with the dialect singer Florian Ast . Tear brought the two of them a platinum record in Switzerland and reached second place on the television show The Biggest Swiss Hits on October 7, 2006. She also hosted this show, together with Beni Thurnheer , Roman Kilchsperger and Sven Epiney .
In 2004/2005 Francine Jordi left the popular style in the direction of Schlager and Swing and released a Swing CD with the SWR Big Band, which also included Karel Gott , Wencke Myhre , Semino Rossi and Simone . In 2005 the CD Halt mich followed .
On June 10, 2007, Jordi made her operatic debut as Papagena in Mozart's Magic Flute at the Kultur Casino Bern . On August 30, 2008 she presented the Grand Prix of Folk Music 2008 together with Sascha Ruefer .
Francine Jordi married the former cyclist Tony Rominger on May 18, 2009 , whom she had known since 2001. At the end of May 2011, their separation became known. From February 2011 to June 2012 she was in a relationship with the dialect singer Florian Ast . The joint CD Lago Maggiore was released on September 30, 2011. In the first week, the CD entered the Swiss charts at number 1. The breakup attracted media attention because it was due to Ast's new relationship with Solveig Romero , who left her husband for it, as Jordi had done just a year earlier.
In 2015, Jordi and Alexander Mazza succeeded Andy Borg as the presenter of the Musikantenstadl, renamed Stadlshow . After a regular and a New Year's Eve edition, the format that had been produced since 1981 was discontinued, apart from the New Year's Eve editions. In 2016/17 she presented the Silvesterstadl with Jörg Pilawa , in 2017/18 and 2018/19 she also presented the New Year's Eve show with Pilawa .
In April 2018, Jordi made public that she had last suffered from breast cancer , which she had now survived. With this in mind, she also underwent radiation therapy and chemotherapy .
In 2020 she took part in the first season of Sing my Song - The Swiss Exchange Concert .
