history

The Prix Walo was founded in 1974 by the musician and orchestra leader Walo Linder as well as André Berner, Hans Gmür , Walter Grieder and Jack Stark. Until 1980, the award for the artist of the year was known as the Golden Tell . Since then, it has been named after him in honor of his initiator Walo Linder. The award has been presented by the Show Szene Schweiz association since 1980 . This emerged from the merger of the “Show Biz Stamm” and “Clan” interest groups. Monika Kaelin is the honorary club president and organizer of the award ceremony . The gold-plated Prix Walo sculpture was created by Rolf Knie .

In 2014, the 40th Prix Walo edition was held with a special gala in the Zurich Convention Center.
