Steff la Cheffe (born April 4, 1987 in Bern ; bourgeois Stefanie Peter ) is a Swiss rapper and beatboxer from Bern's Breitenrain district .

biography

At the age of 13, Steff la Cheffe wrote her first own texts. At the same time she started beatboxing. Three years later, at the age of 16, first appearances followed. During this time she also performed in various cities outside of Switzerland. Among other things, she performed as a beatboxer in Paris , Prague and Berlin .

In 2009 Steff la Cheffe accompanied Andreas Vollenweider as a beatboxer at his concerts. Together with Daniel Küffer, songs by Vollenweider were performed in a completely revised version. In the same year, Steff la Cheffe was named Newcomer of the Year at m4music . It also took first place in the Urban category . She also achieved the vice world title in the female category at the Beatbox World Championships in Berlin.

She then worked on her first solo album together with the Zurich reggae singer Dodo . As a result of this collaboration, Steff la Cheffe appears three times on Dodo's album Reggae Against the Machine . Steff la Cheff's debut album Bittersüessi Pille was released on May 9, 2010 and reached number 7 in the Swiss charts .

In 2011 she received the Swiss Music Award for “Best Talent National”. In 2014 she was awarded the Ida Somazzi Prize .

In 2015 she received the Golden Chrönli award as a rapping robot in the radio play Jimmy Flitz with various other Swiss dialect singers.
