m4music is a music festival organized annually by Migros since 1998 . The festival takes place in Lausanne and Zurich . Both national young Swiss musicians and international acts will be presented. Furthermore, the Demotape Clinic is an integral part, in which largely unknown up-and-coming Swiss artists are awarded a prize. There is also a conference where artists discuss their music. All afternoon events are free in line with Migros' social commitment.

history

The music festival m4music was launched by Migros to compensate for existing deficits in the Swiss scene. The festival should be a place where new talents can present their music and come into contact with experienced musicians. At the same time, international acts are to be invited to bring Swiss music to the outside world and to establish contacts. m4music sees itself as a sponsorship and networking festival. The conference, which was held for the first time in 1999, was intended to discuss current issues in the music scene and to bring them to the public through the press. Also in 1999 the Demotape Clinic was held for the first time. At the same time, many established musicians from the fields of pop , rock , urban and electronica were ready to select the winners from the jury.

In 2003 m4music was involved in founding Swiss Music Export. Foreign bookers, label managers and media professionals are invited to introduce them to the Swiss music scene.

Shipbuilding with the clubs Moods and Exil was chosen as the festival location. The festival has been opening in Lausanne since 2010. From 2014, the festival cooperated with the radio stations Couleur 3 and Virus .

Demotape Clinic

Young musicians can submit their works to the Demotape Clinic. In each of four categories, a winner will be awarded CHF 3,000. The strongest song is named "Demo of the year". The winners in this category included Knackeboul , Steff la Cheffe , Wolfman, The Chikitas and Asbestos.
