Frittenbude is a Bavarian pop / punk band whose members now live in Berlin . It is assigned to the genre Electropunk. She campaigns strongly against right-wing extremist violence , among other things by supporting left-wing, autonomous antifa groups. She is under contract with the music label Audiolith .
history
The band was founded in 2006 during a car trip to the Whitsun Open Air Passau. Because the car radio wasn't working, the later band members began to sing and rap to their own beats .
In 2008 they released their debut album Nachtigall . There are 14 songs on this, which often have humorous lyrics. Some pieces are also socially critical (e.g. at least in 1000 years ). Often, however, it is about visiting discos and nightlife (e.g. Die Nacht or Panda Bear ). Despite some political texts, Frittenbude does not call itself a "political band", although it participates politically in demonstrations and other events and actively promotes them. Pandabär was the first single to be published, followed by At least in 1000 years , Electrofikkkke and in September 2009 Das Licht . After the great success, especially with At least in 1000 years , the band played at festivals such as the Immergut Festival , the Melt ! the Juicy Beats , Rocken am Brocken and the Taubertal Festival .
In their early days, Frittenbude became famous for their remixes. A special feature is that Frittenbude not only change the instrumentation - as is usual for remixes - but also the lyrics. So is called z. B. a remix of the song Graceland by Kettcar is no longer Graceland, but Raveland . Most of the time these changes are used to make the text more humorous. In some cases, however, a political statement is added or an existing one is reinforced:
“What does a soldier cost?
And his grave the next day? "
“We brought you something. (Bass, Bass, Bass)
For the Nazi and Fascist pack there is hate, hate, hate! "
After the end of the “Shame knows no home” tour, the band began working on their second album, Katzengold . This appeared after the release of the single And daily greets the marmot (April 30, 2010) on May 28, 2010, like Nachtigall at Audiolith. The style of Nachtigall is largely continued, overall the songs on Katzengold are a bit quieter. The Limited Edition of fool's gold contains in addition to the normal album also dishwater - remix album , a collection of previously published remixes of Frittenbude, including for Kettcar Egotronic and Supershirt . At number 57, Frittenbude made it into the German album top 100 charts for the first time.
In the summer of 2010 the band performed again at various festivals, including the Melt , the Hurricane and the Southside . At the Hurricane Festival in Scheeßel, the rush in the festival tent was so unexpectedly large that the performance was canceled for safety reasons. Instead, the band played a surprise gig in Hamburg and had confirmed for the Hurricane, Southside and Taubertal Festivals in 2011.
They canceled their appearance at the Chiemsee Reggae Summer 2011 in protest against the appearance of the artist Capleton, who is known for homophobic lyrics .
The band's third album is called Delfinarium and was also released on May 11, 2012 by Audiolith.
On August 21, 2015, the fourth album was released, which bears the name Chick of Orion . In addition, the bonus album Gänsemuseum was released in the limited CD or vinyl box , which contains five additional tracks with musician friends.
In autumn 2018 the two singles Die Dunkelheit may never win (feat. Jörkk Mechenbier) and Süchtig were released, which are taken from the album Rote Sonne , which was announced for 2019 .
Her fifth album Rote Sonne was released on February 22, 2019 .
Side projects
- Martin Steer is the singer and guitarist of the band pandoras.box, which was founded in 2004 . Steer was also active under the pseudonym Midimúm and is co-founder of the Berlin label Antime. On April 6, 2018, his self-titled album will be released on Antime under the name Bad Stream.
- Jakob Häglsperger is active as a solo artist Kalipo (formerly JA! KOB or Das Basslaster).
- Johannes Rögner and Kevin Hamann ( Clickclickdecker , Bratze ) form the duo Lama LA. He has also been running the independent label Anette Records since 2013 .
