There are 101 districts:

history

middle Ages

The village was probably already in the 6./7. Founded Century. In 980, in the annals of the Augsburg Cathedral Monastery, there is a reference to Gisinhusa (House of Giso) for the first time . The cathedral monastery administered its property through a bailiff . The bailiwick was owned by the Counts of Steffling, from whom it passed to the nobles of Haarbach, from these to the Counts of Hals , then to the Counts of Ortenburg and finally to the Lords of Fraunhofen. The organization of the Geisenhausen rule has been recognizable since the middle of the 11th century. After Gisinhusir and Gisenhuse , the place name Geisenhausen appears for the first time in 1315 . On November 25, 1327 Geisenhausen was granted market rights.

Town houses on the market square

On April 10, 1383, Duke Friedrich declared the guardianship of Geisenhausen, with which the Duke, as the keeper of the peace, enforced his superior judicial law. In 1393 Hedwig von Fraunhofen left the bailiwick to the Landshut Wittelsbachers for 10,000 guilders . In 1411 they turned the bailiwick of the Augsburg Cathedral Monastery into a nursing court , which comprised 16 places that exercised the lower jurisdiction and had its seat in the small, but centrally located Haarbach . The rule of the Wittelsbachers was established through the exercise of the bailiwick and the conversion into a nursing court .

16th to 18th century

The oldest picture of the market comes from Hans Donauer from 1590. It is in the Antiquarium of the Munich Residence . In 1605 the monastery of St. Martin and Kastulus in Landshut bought the manor of the provost of Geisenhausen from the cathedral monastery of Augsburg for 17,000 guilders .

During the Thirty Years War , Geisenhausen, which burned down for the first time in 1547, went up in flames in 1635, 1640 and 1648. The Baroque poet Andreas Mayr (1595–1675) from Geisenhausen gave a drastic description of the situation during the war. In 1649 the plague claimed 45 deaths in Geisenhausen. The citizens donated a plague candle to St. Sebastian on St. Theobald , which is still there today.

In the first half of the 18th century, Pastor Dr. Franz Joseph Kastner. He enlivened the pilgrimage to St. Theobald and had the pilgrimage church completely renovated. In 1738 he donated a hospital from his own coffers and set up a fund to train young people.

In 1752 the Geisenhausen native Anna Amann, called Geistnandl, was arrested for witchcraft and after a corresponding trial in Landshut was beheaded with subsequent cremation of her body. In 1760 the rule of Geisenhausen-Haarbach was merged with the Vilsbiburg district court . The Kastner von Geisenhausen remained in the Kastner office there .

19th and 20th centuries

In the second half of the 19th century, handicraft businesses and factories increasingly settled in the community, which until then had been predominantly rural. The Dräxlmaier leather and shaft factory was founded in 1875, and in 1885 Jakob Zeiler built a shaft factory. A malt factory and a brick factory were built around the turn of the century.

A train station was built in Geisenhausen on the Neumarkt-Sankt Veit-Landshut railway line, which was built between 1881 and 1883 . Raiffeisenbank Geisenhausen was founded in 1894 . In 1917 the market received electricity. On Rose Monday of 1929, a carnival market with jugglers, dancing bears, tightrope walkers, fortune tellers and an animal show took place on the market square.

After the Second World War , as a result of which many expellees were integrated, the following decades brought a noticeable upswing for Geisenhausen as well. In 1948 a cinema was opened in the former Huber-Keller inn. From 1946 to 1954, the footballers of TV Geisenhausen played in the highest Lower Bavarian league. New building areas were developed around the old town center. A new sewage treatment plant was built in 1968, and the outdoor swimming pool on Vilsbiburger Strasse opened in 1971.

In 1981 a major fire broke out in the Baywa warehouse. In 1983 the new town hall on the market square could be moved into.

In 1982 the 1000th anniversary was celebrated, in 1993 the celebration of the 600th anniversary of the market survey.

energy

In 2014, the electricity consumption in the Geisenhausen market was around 47 MWh / year. This was countered by around 17 MWh / year of electricity produced on the market from regenerative energy sources (covered by the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG)). This means that the share of electricity from renewable energies is 36% (for comparison: in the Landshut district this share is 43%). The largest expansion took place between 2008 and 2012.

Biomass

Around 3,936 MWh / year are generated in five biomass plants in the area of the Geisenhausen market:

Wind power

There is no wind power plant in the area of the Geisenhausen market . There is potential for the construction of wind turbines. By decision of January 13, 2014, the government of Lower Bavaria declared the sixth ordinance amending the Landshut regional plan to be binding, which regulates the availability of areas for wind power. This provides for priority areas but no reserved areas for the Geisenhausen market. Priority areas for wind power are therefore:

  • WK 47 Wörnstorf
  • WK 48 Schneitberg
  • WK 49 lamps
  • WK 50 Aukam
  • WK 51 Vorrach
  • WK 52 Untergangkofen

There were plans to build a wind turbine in the area of WK 52. At the beginning of July 2016, however, there was no majority in the municipal council for a development plan required for this as part of the 10-H regulation . In August 2020, the municipal council decided to apply for a so-called regional wind care worker as part of the “Aufwind” program, which was launched by the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy.

There is a citizens' initiative against wind turbines.

Hydropower

About 0.07 MWh / year are generated in a hydropower plant in the area of the Geisenhausen market. The hydropower plant with an electrical output of 8 kW is located in the Grabmühle district.

Long-distance transport

It is about 20 kilometers to the A92 Munich-Deggendorf motorway . The motorway connection is via the city of Landshut. The nearest airport, Munich, is around 55 kilometers away and can be reached via the A 92.

Geisenhausen is located on the federal highway 299 (Landshut-Altötting), which can be reached via three feeder roads in a north-easterly, easterly and south-easterly direction. The planned federal highway 15n should lead past Geisenhausen. As part of this road construction project, Geisenhausen would be connected to the motorway junction of the B 15neu with the A 92 via the so-called eastern bypass Landshut; with the continuation of the so-called southern Landshut bypass to the B 15 (old). As the so-called east-south bypass Landshut, these two road projects are classified as urgent in the Federal Transport Infrastructure Plan 2030.
