history
Until the 19th century
Between 857 and 864, Bishop Anno von Freising gave the aristocratic Hrudoldus in Purgipach a church with affiliations and three serfs in exchange for a farm with three serfs in Schweinbach. The name Purgipach indicates the presence of a castle.
It was royal property , because the Frankish king gave his express permission for this exchange. In the 10th century, Emperor Otto I gave the property to the Niedermünster monastery in Regensburg .
In the 14th century the place is called Pewerbach , Pivrbach and Pevrbach , then Pewrpach , Hofpeurpach , 1739 Beurbach and only since 1811 Baierbach .
The barons of Fraunhofen built up their imperial rule here from the beginning of the 15th century. In addition to Altfraunhofen, Oberheldenberg, Holzhausen and Neufraunhofen, Baierbach was one of the five chairmen of this territory. The local legal questions were always controversial, since the Electorate of Bavaria did not recognize the imperial immediacy of the barons of Fraunhofen.
With the Rhine Confederation Act , the area became part of Bavaria in 1806. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria, the Baierbach tax district in the Patrimonial Court of Neufraunhofen was created with the first municipal edict in 1808 and the Baierbach municipality in the Vilsbiburg district court with the second municipal edict of 1818 . In the tax district, only Fraunhofers were present, so the community became indirectly Fraunhof. The Fraunhofen court continued to exist until the patrimonial jurisdiction was abolished in 1848.

coat of arms
The coat of arms, which has been in use since 1983, shows a blue shield head, in it a silver St. Andrew's cross, in silver over a blue three-mountain front a black, behind a red ram's horn turned away from it.
The St. Andrew's cross in the head of the shield indicates the St. Andrea's patronage of the parish church. The lower part of the coat of arms with the two ram horns above the Dreiberg is reminiscent of the Wi (e) derspacher family, who had the right to present the beneficiaries of the Frauenkirche in Baierbach in the 17th century. The benefit was later transferred to the parish church of St. Andreas.
Culture and sights
In 2014, Baierbach was awarded a special prize for an exemplary biotope design as part of the program “Our village has a future - our village should become more beautiful”.
- The late Gothic parish church of St. Andrew was built in the second half of the 15th century. It was enlarged in 1888.
- The side church of Our Lady was built in the second half of the 15th century as a brick building with a ribbed vault. In the high altar there are carved figures by Christian Jorhan the Elder around 1760.
