Anno of Freising
Anno von Freising († October 9, 875 in Freising ) had been Bishop of Freising since 855 .
He was elected bishop by the people in 854 and confirmed and installed by King Ludwig the German . It was consecrated on February 23, 855. Anno was able to significantly expand the property of the diocese. So he acquired the Danube port of Teugn to promote the Freising trade . In the conflict between the Bavarian bishops and the Slav apostle Method , Anno is referred to in a papal letter as his main opponent.
Anno initiated the construction of the Freising Cathedral around 860 . He is also considered a sponsor of the writing school and the Freising cathedral library . Anno also devoted himself to organ building and music maintenance.
