The Altfraunhofen administrative community was founded on May 1st, 1978. Originally her third member was the Vilsheim community , which was dismissed with effect from January 1, 1998.

Residents

As of December 31, 2013, the population was 2,939. By December 31, 2014, it had increased to 2,992, which corresponds to a growth of 1.80 percent. As of December 31, 2015, the population increased again to 3108.
