history

Until the church is planted

The first evidence of the name of the settlement ad Filiso in loco Filzheim dicto , handed down in the traditions of the Freising monastery, was created between 926 and 937. The name refers to the location on the Kleine Vils. Via Vilzheim , Filzhaim and Vilshaim , the place name developed into Vilsheim by 1797 .

Vilsheim was first part of the ecclesiastical property of the bishops of Bavaria, then secular fortress. Evidently, the place belonged to the wealthy Mautner von Katzenberg family as early as the 14th century , then to the noble von Pusch family until the 16th century. The late Gothic church that Ulrich von Pusch had built comes from this time.

For the next 100 years, well-known families lived in Veste Vilsheim, the Cosenbergers, the Wagner von Sattelbogen, the Preysing, the Count Sedlinzkie, the Barons Guggenmoos and the Freiherren von Mettingh.

By marrying in 1759, the Counts of Spreti residing at Schloss Kapfing were masters of the closed Hofmark. The place was part of the Electorate of Bavaria and formed a closed Hofmark , the seat of which was Vilsheim Castle, which was demolished in 1908. In the course of the administrative reforms in Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Incorporations

As a result of the municipal reform on May 1, 1978, the municipalities of Gundihausen and Münchsdorf were incorporated. At the same time, parts of the western part of the municipality were assigned to the municipality of Buch am Erlbach .
